For WP 1 I stuck to what had been drilled into my mind all throughout high school, and I organized my paper in the common five paragraph format. Each of my genres I used as one of my body paragraphs. I believe that this organization was the major downfall of my paper. For my next attempt at WP 1 I plan on not using the five paragraph format and used more, so that I avoided large paragraphs and the reader could digest my paper better. I also should have designed each of my reasons as a major difference I noticed among all three examples. This would have allowed me to compare and contrast the three examples a lot more than the way I did it. The design I made really lacked much contrasting among examples at all. I also plan on using a lot more direct evidence from my sources next time. I plan to do this because evidence is the main way to strengthen an argument of a paper. In my first attempt of the paper I had little direct evidence from the examples, which made my argument very weak causing it to lack argue ability. Finally, for my next attempt I plan to switch out my example of Peter Luger Steak House for a third Newtown restaurant. I would also tweak my thesis to reflect the change of my third example. I would change it to include how the three restaurants in Newtown each have unique things about their menus that attract the particular audience in Newtown.

PB 1B Genre Generators

After looking at the genre generators, the meme generator stood out to me the most. They weren’t that funny, but the other websites were even worse. I noticed that some of the memes were fairly inappropriate. For example, one of the memes had a picture of Osama Bin Laden. Another meme had a caption that said “walks in on his mom having sex—when’s dinner ready?” I noticed that I each of these memes I noticed that there was a consistent pattern in each meme. Each meme contained a large picture that had bright colors to catch the reader's attention. The picture also usually depicted a person or an animal performing a funny act. Around the picture there was usually text that referred back to the picture. The text usually pokes fun at the picture to make the reader laugh or smile. The text only spanned a few major words or lines because in today’s world the attention span of the reader’s who are viewing the meme is very low or non existent. The audience of these memes are of the younger generation who are the ones that largely get these jokes that are being referred to in the meme. The older generation when they view these memes tend to not fully understand what they are referring to because the memes largely refer back to events that have happened in the recent past. Another website I came across was the essay generator website. This website seemed to be a major cheaters tool. I believe that this website may take away the integrity of the student. With this website out on the web the student can easily go around the assignment that the teacher assigned. The student can simply type in the subject that they are trying to write an essay about and the website creates it for them. The website also seems easy to use, so the student can get an essay produced for him or her with no problem. The only downside of using this essay generator would be the use of words and the difficulty of them. For instance, a student could be a beginner writer, but the essay generator would produce a college level essay. This would stump the person reading the essay, creating potential consequences. The essay generator could cause problems for teachers because they may not know whether or not their students used the essay generator. One student could hand in an exceptional essay that came from the generator and receive a good grade, and another student could give an honest effort and not receive as good of a grade. In addition, I looked up pandyland.net/random, and website was not found. I believe that comic strips are supposed to be humorous pictures with not many words, but unfortunately, I could not find the page. Another generator that I have used in the past was a resume generator that is found on Naviance.com. In the high school I attended, all students would have to have a Naviance account, which would help with finding a college and/or creating a resume. The resume generator allows people to quickly and accurately produce a resume, whether it being a college or job resume. The student would input many different facts about themselves. These facts would range from academic achievements to the different sports or clubs that they were apart of at school. This resume generated provided the students with a professional looking resume that gave the student the advantage over others when it came to college applications and job interviews. I researched many different types of genres, and I found that there are countless different types of genres in the world around us.
